Boilers and heating
Why is my boiler thumping or banging?
The usual causes are limescale, sludge in the system or low pressure, which make the water boil in pockets inside the heat exchanger. Check the pressure gauge first, as low pressure is the easiest cause to fix.

Hot water and cylinders
What is a combi boiler?
A combi heats water straight from the mains when you open a tap, so it needs no hot water cylinder or loft tank. It suits homes where hot water is rarely wanted in several places at once.

Why do we pressure test new pipework?
We pump the system up, leave it under pressure, then come back and check the gauges. If the pressure holds, the pipework is sound before anything is covered up.
